This symbol was designed as an annual promotional item for the Chinese market. 2003, according to the Chinese calendar, is symbolized by water over earth. In the symbol design this is represented by the I Ching hexagram number 8 in the background behind the big horn ram. The year, 2003, is slanted sharply to represent a hillside upon which the ram is standing. This symbol design is predominantly black which provides a dramatic contrast to the jade-like green tones and the gold.
