This symbol was designed as an annual promotional item for the Chinese market. 2005 is the year of the rooster. The Chinese dagger and flower in this symbol design are companion symbolisms to this specific Rooster year. The jade bezel surrounds a metal background with a wooden rooster. 2005 is noted as a wood over metal year and therefore that combination of elements was important to the design to make it faithful to the Hsia Calendar. The Chinese characters also convey the Rooster in this symbol design.

The year of the Rooster should be an interesting year
...better in some
ways ...worse in others.
