Chinese dragon

Chinese Dragon

The Celestial Chinese Dragon is comparable as the symbol of the Chinese race itself. Chinese around the world, proudly proclaim themselves "Lung Tik Chuan Ren" (Descendents of the Dragon). Dragons are referred to as the divine mythical creature that brings with it ultimate abundance, prosperity and good fortune.

Laws of the late Viking period show that all free men were expected to own weapons, and magnates were expected to provide them for their men. The main offensive weapons were the spear, sword and battle-axe. Weapons were carried not just for battle, but also as symbols of their owners' status and wealth.

The Phoenix Bird exists in numerous cultural mythologies ... Chinese (Fêng-Huang), Japanese (Ho-oo), Egyptian (Benu), and Native American (Firebird). All of these birds are identified with the sun although the typical notion is of a bird that periodically burns to ash then rises from its own ashes in beauty and triumph.

The samurai (or bushi) were the members of the military class, the Japanese warriors. Samurai were supposed to lead their lives according to the ethic code of bushido ("the way of the warrior"). Strongly Confucian in nature, Bushido stressed concepts such as loyalty to one's master, self discipline and respectful, ethical behavior. After a defeat, some samurai chose to commit ritual suicide (seppuku) by cutting their abdomen rather than being captured or dying a dishonorable death.
