FREE trials give you the opportunity to test graphics software to ensure a good fit
with your other programs, and to get a feel for the program before committing hard-
earned money to it.
Some software packages here are "Recommended" because they have proven
themselves. As you navigate the Tactical Graphic Design website you will see many
examples of what can be produced with these packages — particularly Xara Xtreme
in combination with Adobe Photoshop — and Xara Menu Maker for the java menus
that allow you to move around this site!
Smaller, more home-user-type software is available here as well for those of you
who just want to dabble with the odd project. Professional artists, however, will want
to explore the power of Xara software programs
Recommended Graphic Design Software
Tactical Graphic Design uses software from Xara Ltd. (pronounced " Zara ") to
produce graphics for both print and web applications, menus and certain effects.
Major graphic work is done in Xara Xtreme Pro 4, the company's flagship product.
Xara Xtreme is a light-system-load package that nimbly handles both
vector and bitmap images and combines them with lightening speed.
Xara Xtreme Pro is the perfect choice for professional design work,
ideal for both print and the web. Pro offers the same power and
flexibility as Xtreme, whether you're working with bitmap or vector
graphics, with the addition of features most likely to be used by
professional designers.
These include PDF/X export, multi-core processor support for extra speed, color
separation and Pantone support, a bundled Pan Studio pro photo stitcher, and
additional import & export filters. Click on the link to try a fully functioning trial copy
of Xara Xtreme FREE for two weeks.
(Xara Ltd. offers downloadable free-trials for many of their products which can be
accessed on this page. Simply click the product icon to learn more about these tools
and then download them for a test-drive!)

Graphic design software is everywhere — often expensive.
Free utilities are great, but 'workhorse' software can be pricey.
