This military style patch was built in the wake of the 9/11 attacks and the declared "War on Terror". As it became apparent that fanatic groups were bent on destructive pursuits, the coalition of forces allied to fight these groups could have been massed into a dedicated-purpose unit. The patch design denotes the classic symbol of a centurion standing watch. The Arabic term Jihad was then turned into an acronym, and 'Global Task Force' was added to underscore that the force would scour the earth to bring such lunatics to justice. This patch design is fictitious ...for now!

By the way, in this case "JIHAD" stands for
JOINT INTERNATIONAL HUNT AND DESTROY
